Acquisition puts ENER-G in control

05 January 2011

David Fryer is pleased to announce that the business assets of SmartHome Controls (SHC) have been acquired by low carbon technology business ENER-G as part of the international group’s strategic growth programme.

The business will form part of the ENER-G Controls business, which is already a market leader in the commercial building energy controls sector. This acquisition enables ENER-G to gain entry to the residential controls market and provide a one-stop-shop for building controls technology and services for all sectors.

ENER-G Controls already designs and manufactures the management systems that form the spine of SHC’s residential automation operations.

A new advanced range of control products will be introduced in the near future, as part of ENER-G Control’s ongoing commitment to enhancing and extending its energy management technology.

Gary Dowsett, director of business development and marketing at ENER-G Controls, will manage the enlarged business, supported by David Fryer, former owner of SHC, who will help to transfer operations and key staff from Uckfield, Sussex, to ENER-G Control’s office in Horsham, Sussex.

Commenting on the acquisition, Dr Cedric Rodrigues, managing director of ENER-G’s Energy Management Division said: “SHC has a strong customer and installer base, which is important for us to develop the considerable growth opportunities in the fast-expanding residential energy controls sector. We will be expanding our activity in both the new-build market as well as the retro-fit and upgrade sector.

“This transaction is part of ENER-G’s ongoing programme of targeted growth and will allow us to benefit from major synergies on a number of levels, including the development of control technology, installation of systems, remote monitoring, and servicing support from our specialist engineers. The solutions delivered by SHC to the high-end residential market are directly comparable with our commercial solutions, especially in sectors such as hotels and leisure. I am confident that this acquisition will add significant value to our business.”

Grand Designs Revisited March 2008

The Threshing Barn – 5 Years on as seen on Channel 4 Wednesday 19th March 2008

The Threshing Barn was a project completed in March 2003 and involved a beautiful conversion of a Victorian Threshing Barn.

Philip and Angela owners of this19th century threshing barn in Surrey are reaping the benefits of 21st century heating control thanks to intelligent SeaChange technology. The SeaChange system is an innovative, hi-tech feature of this unique conversion project which featured as part of Channel 4’s Grand Designs series.

5 Years ago Philip said;

“When we heard about the SeaChange system it became clear that this was the technological innovation in heating control that we were looking for, enabling us to efficiently achieve maximum system performance, fuel efficiency and ease of use.”

In March 2008 Angela reports that;

“With the current price of oil we would struggle to afford the fuel bills without the SeaChange system. It allow us to schedule individual occupation times for different areas and to turn off the heating in any unoccupied sections of the house.”

“As well as the economy it is wonderful to have the luxury of warm bathroom floors on spring mornings while knowing the heating is not on in the rest of the house“

The control of the heating and hot water is provided by the SmartServer, an intuitive, easy to use web based interface. The SmartServer also provides a visual representation of the heating status and current temperatures in each room.

Brocket Hall golf day

Brocket Hall Golf Club view over the waterA number of major property developers and interior designers were invited to the magnificent Brocket Hall Golf Club to participate in an event in June 2006.

This was a unique opportunity to learn about the latest in technology and to participate in the first of a series of golf days.

The event was sponsored by the custom installer iLife, ENER-G Controls and AMX and all the participants had the opportunity to see products and to talk first hand with the people who install them.

Classic car for the weekendFrom here it was off to the practice ground for everyone to hone their skills at driving, pitching and putting under the watchful eye of 2 golf professionals, who were there to dispense advice if required.

Then after a lunch it was off to the first tee. The course was magnificent, with water featuring on a number of holes and we had the most magnificent weather for the event.

When the day was over there were some prizes, the opportunity to have a classic car of their choice for a weekend.
